Some of the positives are from my experiences and should not be tried at home if you have epilepsy. The first positive is when you don’t get enough sleep your parents let you stay home from school and sleep so you don’t have a seizure.
Some of the positives are from my experiences and should not be tried at home if you have epilepsy. The first positive is when you don’t get enough sleep your parents let you stay home from school and sleep so you don’t have a seizure. I used to stay up all night and when I looked exhausted I would go downstairs and say, “Dad I didn’t sleep well can I stay home?” He would automatically say yes and I would have an evil grin as I walk up the stairs. Now if you decide to do this don’t stay up all night just fake it. Don’t do it all the time because education is very important and I suggest you only try this in an emergency. I hope no parent reads this, but if they do, all I want to say is let them get away with it a few times.
The second positive of having epilepsy is that during the swimming unit in gym you don’t have to swim and therefore you get an extra free. I know I mentioned this as a negative in my other post and now I believe this can go both ways. I honestly love swimming and a lot of people I say I am really good at it, but who wants to be graded for swimming? No one really likes the swimming unit either because you get chlorine in your hair and they put A LOT of chlorine in that pool.
The third one is having extra time on final exams and tests during school and college. It doesn’t seem like much but you get to take your time and relax instead of rushing like others do. I remember taking the PSAT and others who had regular time where telling me that they didn’t even get to answer some of the questions of each part. I felt so bad for them but even though I had to stay an hour longer than the others it was worth it. Some people don’t like having extra time because they have to go to the separate location but come on! Others would kill for extra time. I remember on the final exam for English I wasn’t even finished with my writing and went past normal time into my extra time.
There are others and I’ll probably remember the rest once I finish this post but here is the last one I will give you for now. It is a great conversation starter when you are meeting new people. Sometimes when you meet people for the first time you really don’t have anything to say but since not a lot of people know much about it you can inform them. It’s probably not the most interesting positive but I use this to my advantage all the time. I hope this post lifted up your spirits and gave you some cleaver ideas on how to take more advantage of epilepsy.
If you have any more pros that I forgot to mention please leave me a comment or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org thank you for your time and have an amazing day. It’s so nerve wrecking that school is just around the corner. I hope it is better than last year.
